Been playing around with my 97 700SX that I added a 136" x 2" track to. It is a stock engine and I am at 1600' elevation. Gearing is stock and I went to 8 tooth drivers. With these changes, I am reving a bit over 8600 RPM at full throttle. Working it hard in deep, soft snow, RPM's will drop off to about 8200 on a long pull. It also seems to rev a lot higher at 40 to 50 MPH cruising speed. I assume it might have to rev a bit higher to make enough HP at cruising speeds, but what is the best way to get my WOT RPM's down to where they should be? Drop a tooth or two on the bottom? Add some more weight to the primary? Change spring, helix or wrap on my secondary?

Never played around with clutching much. Just took the advice off this site and added some wieght to the primary and it worked great. Bit of a learning curve for me... ;):D

hey, yammerhead, I wouldn't be able to bother you for the jetting chart for that sled could I? is there much difference for piped or not? the 97 I'm borrowing is piped.
thanks

Should really figure out what kind of pipes are on the sled and then go from there. Different pipe mfg have different jetting requirements. Also need to know what elevation you plan on riding at and if there are any engine mods like a thinned out head gasket, etc. I do have the service manual, so I could scan the jetting chart if you want. However, you have to remember the pipes change the fuel requirements for the motor.

;)!
