Will you share your problems with us?
Im going to soon ! Like I said I just want to see if anyone comes up with the same thing before I go on! Sorry for being so vaugh.....

Have you at least called Jeff and asked him for help?

Heres his number: 414-698-6611

My brother had a problem with his 780 kit, but it wasn't a simons kit. The cylinder skirt broke completely off on the exhaust side of two of the cylinders The intake side skirts were cracked too. What would cause the cylinders to break? Only about 500 miles on them after the BB

That's what we were blaming it on, but it's good to hear someone else confirm this. I told him not to use Flying J gas! lol

I hear ya!

PM me if you'd like to talk about 780 problems. I'd rather not discuss it here. All I have to say is that DON HOOKED ME UP and she runs good now!

What is this a game? I smell a skunk.
First of all this is not a game!!!!!! I use this forum to learn about these machines!! Not to bash!!!! Now with that said,I had the same problem Mountain Mod had with the skirts breaking off. Not once but twice, both times with less than 700 miles !!!!!!!!! Both times on a trail not a lake. Im not a hard trail rider,I do'nt ride WFO!!!!.The last time it took out everything cases reeds crank it cost me a little over $2000 to put this thing back together. Mr Viper, you say its detonation, now this is where I need to be educated. I do know what detonation means, I do know what effect it has in a 4 stoke motor. I have been running a 500 ci SUPER COMP drag car for 15 years. I have alot of money in pistons with holes in them from detonation for various reasons . But never did I have to replace cylinder or a block from detonation!!!! Now I do'nt know what effect it has on a 2 stroke help me here!!! Let me give you some FACTS first, I always warm my sled before I take off. After every trip I drain whats left in my tank and fill it with 104 VP racing fuel since the day I bought this sled new. Both times when this happened we where only about 50 or so miles in the start of the trip. I run this sled a little fat on the jetting,I know it takes some hp away, but I figure better safe than sorry . So its not a lean condition.
Mr Viper when this happened the first time I was told when I sent him the cylinder and I quote," I never seen this before I do'nt know what happend." This is coming from the man who sells these kits!!!!!!!!!! I did'nt put up a stink and just chalked to being one of those things. I did call Jeff on this and he wants all the cylinders. Im about to send them out. This one was just as bad as the first one I have to have some answers its getting real expensive.I do'nt think SIMONS is going to steer me wrong on this. Everyone please understand im just trying to learn how this happend. Mr Viper you have helped me in the past I respect your knowledge .

Ok, I understand your frustration, its not a cheap thing!

what exactly do you have a stage 2 srx kit? what is the jetting your currently using, pilot jets? needle pos? and main jet? does the sled have a tempa flow? or any mods to the airbox, like bender cold air kit etc?

when this sled comes apart when is it, cruising in mid range? topend wide open?

Any chance you could post a pic of the piston tops for me to look at?

The reason I say detonation is this, to break off the exh side of the skirt is the detonation violently shaking the piston, the forged piston is stronger then the thinner cast skirts are, and once they(cylinder) are over bored they are thinner then stock, but it all comes down to being either lean some spot somewhere in the fuel curve or the heads are not correctly set up. The head set up, and other more minor issues is what was wrong with Matts CPR 780 (madmatt) . Alot of times just because you have detonation doesnt mean the piston will be all melted or destroyed, it can happen in small increments but wreck the engine slowly, this how a tempa flow does the damage, slowly over time.... usually, then finally once the ring is exposed a squeeky sound happens and it coast to a stop. If you can answer those questions above I will try to help you the best I can, thanx
