this weekend im going to install the 151" skid under my sled. im wondering about where i could find some info I.E. a gearing/mph chart or some info on what gearing i could run to get awesome acceleration. im willing to top speed at 90- 100 if i could just get there faster oh and without exploding my chain case....im using 2.52 8 tooth antiratchet drivers and its spinning a fully clipped 156"x15" with a 2" paddle. any help on good gear numbers to run would be of great help to me.
 
I'm using a 156 by 2 track on an SRX. Gears for altitude are 19:42 with 9 tooth drivers for a gear ratio of 2.1:1. Don't know about top speed but I'd be suprised if it would make 100 mph. However it's real quick. Go to MPI's on line cataloge and look unders gearing. They have a couple of charts that include gear ratios for 8 tooth drivers. Hope this helps you.
 
thanks...but about the mpi chart it only really shows what should be used as if theres only one option....and it doesnt tell what mph the top would be ...and whats that ratio thats given when you find your gearing numbers the one for the gears im using ended up being like 1.91 but i dont know what that means...
 
Found this in a parts book. Ratio=(rpm/speed) times.020409. The formula is based on 9 tooth drivers with a diameter of 6 7/8", so probably not 3 pitch drivers. The MPI gearing chart for 8 tooth drivers gives the ratio in 9 tooth equivalents so this should work for you. I ran my 19/42 ratio at 8600 rpm and came up with a top speed of 79.42 mph. Probably real close to true. Hope this helps you.
 
wow You were topping out at only 79 mph.....ill bet you were getting to that top speed really fast!
i havent opened up the throttle yet after i installed the 23 over 40 gears but it feels like its got alot more pull down low....thanks for the help with the math equation....

;)! well the tail light works fine....it actually shines red through, just not so bright but im not worrying about a rider coming up on my tail.....it doesnt ever happen....EVER!
