I want to polish the tunnel on my '02 SRX. I know I'll need to strip it. I heard aircraft stripper is the way to go. As for polish, I have a can of simichrome; recommended by another member.

What parts must I remove prior to attempting? I am assuming seat at elast and all the stickers, etc. Then the stripper.

But what about hardware like bolts, screws, etc.?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

friend of mine did his zr900 tunnel, needed stripper b/c tunnel is black. don't think you need stripper for an 02 srx, tunnel is just aluminum color. he took out all bolts, screws, rivets. much easier, didn't have to hand polish around all the hardware.

Nope its painted silver.

I read a thread a few days ago about someone doing this and they left all the rivots in and said that it would have been a waste of time to take them out... look in previous threads this subject has been brought up and all your quesitons u asked are answerd...

Strip It

Yeah, the tunnel needs to be stripped to bare aluminum. I was definetley NOT going to remove all the rivets. Taht would have been just too much damn work. :)
