I bought a new to me 1997 V-max 600 XTC last summer. The sled had been sitting for some time until we met. It was love at first sight(the price was right). We were having a good relationship until a month ago when it seized up. After the motor was rebuilt I took it out for a little break-in ride and noticed the oil level had"nt moved. We loaded it on the trailer and took it back to where I had it done. The pump was broken and a good thing he had put enough oil in the gas or he would be rebuilding it again. We went out on Sat. for a ride and it was running pretty good considering tha double oil it was getting. The other half wanted to go for a final blast up and down the lake and I said sure. After a few passes I"m thinking wow this thing is keeping close up to 80mph even though she"s ahead of me. We traded sleds and man it wasn"t even close. She wasn"t even trying all along and the worst part was she drubbed it in. It"s okay now I"m waiting for the good weather to tear it all apart for a little TLC over the summer. On the bright side I get to ride her Rev when I go out with the the guys but other than that I enjoy my Max.
needed and some
and then I can
her!

If it's in good shape you should see upper 90's MPH easily. My favorite about the sled is how quick it is between 40 and 75. That and the sound the twin makes.

Hello guys! The nickname came years ago when I was playing with toy cars (slot cars). Anytime I had a dog of a motor I would put a few drops of oil on the armature and do laps till it fried. It was funny watching it go around the track smoking like crazy and starting to slow. The stench from the burning epoxy was awful and everybody used to say there goes george smokin another one.(hence the nickname).
