I need to replace the dash ( Yamaha calls it a headlight cover), that has the air ducts molded in on my viper.
From the Yami parts exploded view, it looks like it is held in with maybe 6 screws and that the trim pieces may or may not have to be removed also, (first). Has anyone done this before? I know that it is not rocket science, but every screw that I remove is one more that I may loose...
FYI, The reason that I am going through this exercise is that my gauge and dash melted from the sun. It turns out that the Cobra/ Sportech transparent chrome windshield has the ability to melt plastic when the sun hits it just right.
The people at Sportech have bent over backwards to make me happy sending out a replacement red transparent replacement shield and cutting a check within a week to the dealer for a new speedo unit and headlight cover.
I wish all manufactures stood behind their product like this. When I called they were aware of the problem , which shocked the hell out of me! anyway. they have been very agreeable on this entire thing.
So, any help on the parts swap will be appreciated, I only have 9 monthes or so to do it in.
Thanks,

damn only 9 months? we better get to work. the remove the windshield then the six bolts, it all needs to be moved back about an inch to be removed. installation is reversed.
