87 Exciter Carb Help

Need some help converting an 87 exciter over to 88 exciter carbs. The 87 came with butterfly carbs and the 88 carbs I bought are mikuni slide type.First I need to know how to hook up the oil pump cable.The 87 had it hooked to the linkage but the 88 has no linkage just a single throttle cable that splits into 2 and connects to the top of the carbs.Also are the flanges the same that are mounted to the motor?One last question.Is the oil injection supposed mix with the gas at a tee before the fuel pump instead of getting injected into the intake?Not too familiar with the 87 exciter and any help would be appreciated.Thankx.

Im not sure about the oil pump hook up, but the boots on engine need to be changed to a smaller set, also you'll need a new thottle cable too.

you need the throttle and oil cables from an 88, as well as the the throttle control assy, the oil injection stays the same, the problem you have is the oil pump wheel between 87 and 88 has a different stroke, so when you adj the oil cable you just set it so there is a little slop in it with the throttle is at WOT.

If the sled is tock, leave it alone its faster with the the butterflies, the problem is if you change anything on the sled, clutching, pipe, they are not tunable without drilling holes in them................

Thanks for getting back to me guys.The reason I need to change them is the casting is broke on the left butterfly where the pin that holds the float goes.If anybody has a throttle block with the lever and cables for a 88 exciter that they want to sell please post and let me know how I can contact you.Was able to order the carb boots so the throttle should be all I need.Thanks again.

If you're gonna use Yammie cables you need actual Yamaha carbs tops, or the carbs you have need to be from a Yamaha

I already purchased the carbs off of an 88 Exciter. They came with the throttle and choke cables. All I need now is the throttle lever or throttle block that will hold 2 cables. One is the throttle cable the other goes to the oil pump. If anybody has a throttle block off an 88, again, let me know how to contact you. Thanks for the replies.
