I am planning on a new track for viper, to be used for trail riding and don't want to stud. One that I have looked at is ac quiet drive ripsaw 1.25. Is this track any better than ripsaw wo. Tnks Jim

I have a Ripsaw on my 04 Viper S.
On the groomed trail in WI and MI., or snow cover lake tops for that matter, it does great. It does not seem to hook up well on road crossings, or when riding the sides of curvey roads, my frinnds with studded tracks can ride faster. Icy corners still can be a problem, but I try to slow down in anticipation.
I may or may not stud mine over the summer.

I second that on the ripsaw track, but will say in my experiences that its the best non studded track that I've run on ice.Its definetely not studs, but I am none the less impressed,I figure it must have a softer compound rubber on the tips and the bending thats helps some on ice.Great overall track though,I purchaced mine from Rich down at Novi.

I would say go with the ripsaws little brother the one inch hacksaw with studs.
I like to stud my tracks so with out changing drivers i would go with the hacksaw or any aggressive 1 inch track with at least 96 studs.

love the ripsaw on my sxr. on the trails and snowy lakes its grab and go. sticks to the corners like glue for me and the tail of the sled doesnt want to walk out. got one on the warrior too. just beware it streches like a bugger when they new. at 15km i had to adjust it cause it was ratcheting.

ripsaw on my viper made it feel like a different sled...love it,... can point the skis skyward on little mogals...its a blast now that I can get the power to grab..
Only down fall is the track noise...your "quiet" track has clipped outside corners....not sure how much that helps...the "quiet" tracks were put on some arctic cats , stock
no studs on mine and 1000 miles later I still don't miss them....this track grabs as good as ANY old worn out studs....which is what 99% of us have...try tracks usa...quick shipping and a great price,...and they don't gouge you for shipping either.

CB Performance parts had great prices on them at the Grayslake show this past fall.
PM them, you'll get an answer in a day.

I have a Hacksaw coming next week. I plan to stud it with 192 studs. I guess I won't know till next year how she works. I would have gone with the ripsaw however I need run studs for the icy trails we have here.

My wifes sled has the stock .93 lug with 120 studs up the middle. 4700 miles not one has ripped out. I think you could run 120 or 144 with no problem. Would save you a little $$$.

have a 136 ripsaw on my sled more traction than old 1 inch with 144 studs on everything but ice plus if you wonder of the trail then 1 inch has nothing on it

New 1.25" rip-saw ice ripper!

I heard this is a new track for 2007 sledding season. It is same as the rip-saw except it has studs pre-moulded into the lugs. Saves alot of weight this way and elminates the headaches from coventional studs, ie almost no-chance of tearouts. When the studs wear down you can always put tradional studs into it as well.

I have 144 studs now in the stock 03 1" track and it doesn't hook up. I hacksaw and 192 studs will solve that problem. ;)!

I like this track choice also. I am running the 1" ice claw right now. It does very well on ice, just enough traction on pure ice to make you feel safe. The only problem I have with it is after 3000 miles the lugs started to rip off. I think I have about 3-4 gone. I think with the 1 1/4 ice ripper you would see lugs rip off. I heard the ripsaw track lugs rip also. Ripping a lug off is always better than putting a stud through your heat exchanger though, that has happend to me 3 times now.
