Has anyone tried the new and improved versions that don't explode. A friend here tried them on his piped sx and ran 124. Just looking for some more insight.

Deek

thats fast for a sx is he regeared higher cause i dont think thats possible with stock gearing with out runing the motor out to over 10 grand

ok cause even with my pipes i cant hit fater then 110 on the dremometer across the entire lake with stock gearing. so im realy only goin about 100 prolly

Terret, something isn't right with your setup. OR your pipes are just really weak. My Aaen piped 600sx with an m-10 and a 1.25" track hits 110 in perfect conditions on speedometer with everything else stock. Try working on your clutching some more.

weights in clutch????????????????????

Hey Change Up. I have a 2001 SX600R and am putting in a 51/43 Helix and a Sno Stff Can.What weight should I be running...how about 8DN-20's empty.Last ride I am running stock clutches..stock weight with 4.5 inner and 3.6 upper for rivets. Only running at 8300 rpm's WOT,19/39 gearing and was getting 165 km/h approx. That's with a 1 1/4" RipSaw on it.Want a little moe speed yet.

i have PI center dumps the only run a 8150 top befor teh power drops with out uping a tooth my "therotical top speed" using a 1:1 clutch ratio is 98.9 mph with my curent set up. i def have more power with the pipes i get to 90+ alot faster then befor but after it hits 106 or so on the dreemometer it wont pull much more. well mot more then i wanna with the new rings befor they are broken in only 160 miles on them. so any more then 1/2 WOT im not doin.

Back to the original question about HC 2 speeds...

I've ran a set of the new 2 speed all this winter on my '01 SRX. Got 800 miles and no trouble with the weights them self. The set up is another story. The weights have great potential but, have proved difficult to tune for my sled. I never did get them where I want them. Very little snow this year made it tough to even ride it let alone tune the clutch. Most of the miles were in the UP. When we were there I sure didn't want to mess around with the clutch...wanted to ride so I lived with the clutch being a little off. I'm beginning to think there is a problem with th red spring not being what it is supposed to be. I plan to test mine over the summer to compare with the specs. From reading other posts, I know there are others that have the same tuning problems on Vipers and SRX's.
I helped a guy tune a set of these on an F-7 and they dialed right in with a small change from the set up sheet. He picked up about 20mph top end on the spedo. I thought he would crash from having his woody tangled up in the handle bars! He had a primary and secondary clutch kit from D & D and couldn't really tell any difference from stock. The HC 2 speeds have made a real noticable difference in his.

I run em in my turbo RX-1. Keep most of the weight in the heel & add tip weight only if you need to. Run a dual angle helix with a low finish.
