between the pistons in lets say a 99 600 SRX and a 2000 sx600r. I can see the part number is slightly different but would they interchange? Would it have to do with the power valve and non-power valve motor, therefore the piston design is a little different.

well the 600 srx is a 598cc and the 600sxr is a 593cc. I wouldn't try to interchange them. Just like the 700 srx(696cc) and 700 sxr (698cc), they are completely different engines. I wouldn't try it. Maybe see if you can find bore and stroke and compare the bore.

Totally different motors, dont even think about it. I was going to answer this post a long time ago but looked for exacting information.
bore and stroke is different in those 2 motors.
