a Yamaha 1300pv Tripple?

There's two guy's in here that have big water craft motors in their sled one is a 1400 and the other one I forgot.

Yeah SRX1400 has one in his srx. I seen it run in his garage and that thing was crazy! Might try to get with him and see. I dont remember how much $ he said he put into it but it was enough to make anyone say Holy Shi*

it was posted in here last season........or was that the year before........cant remeber but they where wow #'s

theres no replacement for displacement! and if im going to overspend on modifying my sled with a bigbore kit i may as well look into all of my options since im already intent on spending $

Something to remember is that the watercraft enginer operate in a different power band than the snowmobile engine. Also I think that price is if you have a good core to turn in.

ill call the company and get back to you about the core

plan on doing some major porting to get a water engine to run like a sled engine. if you could find some big twin that has about the same bore and stroke, that would give you the right neiborhood to begin in.

so cyl head porting is what your talking about?....why would you say to go with a big twin and not a big tripple ...i want to go with a big tripple if at all possible for hillcross...ive already made a dude with a polaris RMK 800 twin very angry about me walking all over him uphill all day long because of my torque and i want it to continue happening!...so whats wrong with doing what i need to with a big tripple to make it work ?

he is just saying that you will need some extensive porting to get it to run well in a sled.

I say big twin because there are some twins that have comperable per cylinder displacement. a twin is basicly 2 smaller engines stuck together, a triple is 3. if one of the OEM twins has similar stroke and bore, that will tell you about what your porting should look like.

It won't be cheap to build that motor. I remember reading about srx1400's motor, and the work involved was extensive. His used the stock cylinders, big bored. Peak rpm was low due to the extremely long stroke in that motor. When built properly, u should be in the neighborhood of 280+ hp, and close to 200 ft. lbs. of torque in trail mode, in the neighborhood of 7800-8100 rpm. Custom pipes alone will be around $1200. Porting, case, and head work will be quite pricey to have it done properly. It would probably be easier to get that motor, sell the entire top end, and bolt on some HTG or price cylinders.

A standard big bore kit for the SRX would be a much the much cheaper and easier route. Still will give you pretty big returns in HP while still being able to just pull the rope and go. Retrofitting that watercraft motor to your sled will cost thousands of dollars in just custom fabrication (pipes, recoil, motor mounts, etc) and not to mention countless hours of banging your head while trying to get it dialed in.

If you are set on spending money in order to get big horsepower then why not pick up a used RX-1 mtn for like $4000 and buy a turbo for it and have well over 200HP and have no where near the headache of having a custom big bore 2 stroke.
