Buddy's dad has a stock 2002 Viper @ 4000miles sled is starting to over-rev to up @ 8800RPM ?? Planned on going through carbs/powervalves/clutching this summer for him-what is the best clutching for a stock viper. Saw some combinations on the tech page-but if I'm taking both clutches apart-I would like to do a complete kit..Had really good luck with hauck stuff in my SRX's -But different sleds-some people may do better than others??

;)! I put a Goodwin kit in my 03 and it's all stock except for Vforce 3 reads .
It changed the whole sled . The kit number is 4232 . I like it ,but that's
my opinion .

Hauk #3 in my wife's viper is really nice. Also easy to install. Just springs and a helix change.

Also play with the secondary spring settings. You can get the rpm down a little playing with that.

Did he change to an aftermarket belt? The hardness of the belts can make a difference.

a lot of guys like multi angle helix's, but i have tried a few and they just dont backshift as good as a strait cut. i think the stock helix with some more agressive weights would be a great setup!

Thanks guys- OK , so what you guys are saying, that a kit does wake it up a bit?? I am aware of what the #3 kits include from hauck-I think the #4 kits from them include weights?? I think.. Thats all I ever bought for the SRX's were the #4 kits for my 98' and 00' ...my buddy put a #4 kit in his 98' 600 SRX too-wow what a change!! Eric- I think I have a set of 8DN20's at home- I wonder where I should start -as far as what rivets?? I guess I could look at some yamaha tech. books I got at home...Its weird though-its like his viper just started to over-rev the last couple of trips up?? Maybe worn springs/old belt??MAYBE it just all of a sudden gained 10-20 HP!!!??? does that happen??-oh yea- only on arctic cats when you add a aftermarket muffler!!! I forgot!!

Eric - yes-Its awesome!!!! ended up being the mpem-bought a 600ho OEM one and like WOW!! Rode it for the last half of the season - sure didn't want spring to come-what a blast!!!! Still have to get shocks re-valved again, but it wasn't bad. Don't miss my 800 one bit-can't bottom this baby!! All four shocks are on the softest settings-need to make it a little softer-but I could live with it.Keeps up with my dad's new 600HO dragon accel/top end-not bad -eh??

the DN-20's will be close with 3.6 in each hole, if you need a little more add a 4.5. Shoot for 8400 out of the hole to 8600 on top.

"Thank you,Thank you very much.." -Do the viper CDI's "retard" the timing as much as the srx's after 8500rpm?? I know the non-powervalve 700's you can rev to the moon and it doesn't seem to hurt them-well maybe not that far, but they don't lose horsepower like the srx's did if you were off by a couple hundred rpm.
Thanks again guys
-Matt
