Hey!
Iam going to change motor in my sx500r, and i just got a mail about a 99 sx700 motor.
My question is;
Is there any difference between the sx700 - 99 and the sx700r - 00/01 motor?
any improvement?
weakness?

just the igntion systems. The 01 has 360 ignition, 300 watt coil, and is much more powerful than the older system. Otherwise they are the same.

Ok, i think i try to find a 01 then. Then i can buy a double front light as the 01-02's had.
Anyone here know of a complete 01' Sx700r motor(exhaust, carb, airbox, cdi?

you need the whole electrical/ignition system off the 01, complete, and I mean everything, the only thing you cancsb reuse is your coils

Yes, I know i need a lot of parts. But I think it will be a fun project for the summer.
Iam going to sell my 500 01' motor complete, with exhaust, cdi, carbs, airbox and the whole electric system.
Maybe I make a worklog on this project, here are some things Ive thought about:
- Change from 500 to 700.
- Build it from 307x38x28mm to 345x38x38-44mm.
- Maybe build my own tunnel in alu.
- Change silencer
- Rise the handle-bar
- And some other things

If you're making a 700 out of a 500 you'll need the cooling system also...............

Well, i can use the cooling system from the 500, but i need cooler at the back.
Now its just a alu pipe there, as it is on all the 500's.
Then it will be like the stock 700 or? Thats what i think

nope, the 700 has bigger exchangers on the sides as well as in the front and then the one in the back, so really you need all 4.

Ok, i have the front exchanger from a srx 99, so that one would be okey.
Then i just need the sides and the back.
But if i mod the side exchangers, i think it will be okey

srx exchanger has a differnt fitting on the motor side it points straight up
i have the srx rear cooler in my 500. all the holes are there in the stock tunnel and it is larger than the stock sxr700 rear cooler. you will need the viper/srx rear hoses even with the sxr700 running board coolers.

if you put the 700 sx/r cooler in the back you don't need to change the hoses.........

Ok, i know that the srx 700 front cooler is diffrent from sx700r, but i think i can make it work. It works fine on my 500. Just needed to make a air-screw to let the air out when filling.
I was so sure i could use the side coolers from the 500, but seems like i was wrong this time
Then i need a lots of parts

the only way to make the front srx cooler work is to cut the outlet off and weld the other on, the hose on the srx goes straight up and the sx points forward..........

I have this for sale.
Complete 700 Triple from a 01' SXR with approx 3800 miles. Complete with Full Exhaust, motor mounts,air box,CDI, pull, Complete wiring harness, and Carbs. This motor has the the removed head layer of head gasket, notched reeds. $1,200.00 this motor runs great, just checked out with 152 psi compresion in all three cylinders. it has the head gasket mod, the notched read cages. this motor will beat stock 700 vipers and my sled would beat some f7's. If you want i have a video of the sled running before it was torn down (video was taken 15 minutes before the motor was pulled).
I will also include the 01 head light for the above price, this is everything you need motor wise.
I also have both the primary and Team roller secondary from this sled for sale also.
This is everything you would need except for the coolers.

Iam thinking of something, the running board coolers, ive looked at a sxr 700 2000' and i would say it has the same coolers as mine sxr 500 2001'. Can that be right?
I couldnt see anything that says that the 500 has smaller running board coolers than a 700.
