Hey Guys
We are starting to pull this motor apart and would like everyone's opinion on what happened to this pistion. The day it blew it was around 0 to - 5 C around 30 to 36F, and i think we might have had bad gas. This is my roomates motor and the day we were on a poker run (we both filled up at the same time) and i noticed my sled did not run as good as it should have, and since his blew i blamed bad gas for mine not running the way it should and the next time out with better gas it was running better. I have a few pics of the damage.
Pics are too big for here so i have links.

Hi YAMMIEGOD3:16
I think there is about 6000miles on this motor, do you think it was just normal wear and tear? We are trying to get into the bottom of the motor to check the crank to make sure it is ok. Did you notice the one base rod bolt it is all rusted. What do you think would cause this?

DUDE, SHURE IT COULD BE WEAR AND TEAR. 6000 MILES AND I AM SHURE A HARD 6, SHIT HAPPENS. BUT I,LL SAY THIS, BAD GAS DON,T CAUSE THAT KIND OF DAMAGE. DON,T PUT THIS ENGINE BACK TOGETHER UNTIL YOU CHECK THAT CRANKSHAFT. MY GUESS YOU HAVE A MESS IN THE BASE OF THAT MOTOR. MAY HAVE TO PULL THAT APART AND CLEAN OUT. ALL THOSE METAL CHIPS ENDED UP SOMEWHERE. THAT HEAD IS JUNK, YOU CAN GET CYLINDER REPLATED. GET NEW PISTON AND RINGS, FRESH,IN UP OTHER TWO WHILE YOU HAVE IT APART AND YOU SHOULD BE READY. I AM SHURE YOU CAN FIND A HEAD SOMEWHERE. 3:16 (tony)

Something broke, bearings, rings, etc.
When the rod bearing went stupid on my new F*&^in crank last winter , it looked pretty much like that. Shrapnel got sucked up into the combustion chamber, and voila....

check to see if the ring locating pins are still where they are supposed to be. One may have fallen out and allowed the ring to turn. I can't really see where the end of the ring is from the pics, but if it turns it will catch an exhaust port and really tear things up.

with 6,000 miles throw new pistons in it. I'm sure you have some skirt collapse by now.
