RE: Trenching problems racing my MMax
Hey guys, my modifiyed mountain max is trenching very bad
(144x 2.0" track 8 t drivers with 22/39 gears and roller secondary with stiff bender red/yellow spring)
I tried to gear up and down, don't seem to make much difference, iF i lower my clutch engage speed or put a less steep helix angle, she bogs very bad instead of trenching, can't seem to find the right setup, any ideas? my buddy has a polaris RMK, same track/ gearing and he starts off without spinning and gets a large head start, while im there just spinning, i have to catch him near the finish line, I don't like it, sometimes it's too close........

could it have to do with the approach angle ???? if the skid is to far out of the tunnel in th front ot will dig deep and going with less aprrouach angle will allow the sled to climb on top of the snow....

I doubt it's the angle, she a 2002 model with the low angle, it's just on take off when racing i notice it, after she hooks up she transfers well and lifts the ski's for most of the race, but it's that start off im just spinning........for 20 feet she digs a 1 foot trench.....
try adding spring tention to the center shock and loosen the rear.....

the center shock is at it's max stiff position, and the rear shock is at is softest preload/tension............ and the skid is in the upper mounting holes center and rear( lowest suspension setting)
and you must have transfer rods??? Right.

You may want to try a less agressive primary setup.

so what do you think, ( yes to the transfer rods ) lighter weight and less agressive spring??
I would say for sure the transfer rods....and then try less aggressive clutching...lower the engagment

I'm soft all the way around and the limiter shortoned on my Mtn Viper. I had a real problem with it trenching and it's not quite right yet.
