I just finally got time to fog my sled and I noticed when I started it, (besides the battery being dead), that none of the dash lights lit up, blinked or anything when I started it. I don't ever pay any attention to the dash lights when I start it in the winter. So I don't know if it ever lit. I remember someone saying in a post along time ago that the light should blink three times or something?? anyone know?? The sled in it's stock form is a 2001 vmax 500 deluxe, it's a very early 2001. like I said the battery is beyond dead now so could it have something to do with it?? If the lights are supposed to come on and dont what could be wrong??? :dunno:

If it is an electric start sled, the gauges will be messed up till the battery is charged. Maxdlx

Very Tru What Maxdlx says...My vipe is possessed when the battery is dead...
Charge it up...or trickle charge over the summer...that might restore confidence
by the fall...

The backlights for the speedo and tach still work though. just not the warning lights. I'll have to charge it and hope for the best!! Does anyone know if the 500's are supposed to have the warning lights blink on start up or not? Thanks for the help!!

My 99 500 deluxe did the same thing. Charged it up, and all was good. Same sled really. Maxdlx

My big conern was I don't remember the lights ever coming on or blinking at all at start up even in the winter when the battery worked fine. It didn't concern me until I saw a post awhile ago saying they should come on or something when the sled is first started. But the battery may have been losing charge too but still enough to start up. I don't know why I even keep the electric start it starts first or second pull. If I took the eletric start out, how would no battery at all effect the sled??

Does anyone know what the proper thing is for the warning lights on the dash to do when the sled is first started?? Are they suppossed to blink, or just come on for like 20 secs then go off or not come on at all..anyone know??
