Just joined the four stroke crowd. Picked up a used Attak with 750 miles on it. It came with a cover, skid plate and extra belt.

now what size studs and how many do I put in that 136?????

about the same percentage of the track is on the snow regardless of how much total track, so about the same number of studs are point down. my guess is if you use a comperable pattern that you used on your old sled you should be happy, as your track has grown with your power. as for size, a deeper track lug will deflect more than a shorter lug, so less penatration is needed. what were you running on your SX?

all this advice come with one huge disclaimer. I don't run studs, I'm just looking at the mechanics of the situation.

I have 168 1.4 inch studs in a 1.25x136. Congrats on the new sled. Hope it is as fun and full of enjoyment as the old red 700 was. Maxdlx

like rich said 162 down the center. i use 1.40" extreme max. not the best for ice drags, but great for a trail stud. while your at it toss the stock skis (worthless!) and get a set of doo pilots or slydogs with 8-10" of carbide. there is a lot of ski pressure that cant be removed on the attak, so dont put too agressive of a ski on. i tried a pair of mountain skis and they worked terrible on it (loved them on my viper though!) i would think c&a's wouldnt be the best either if you put a lot of miles on.

Guys, thanks for the replies. I have put it away for the summer but will be getting it out as early as possible and doing some tinkering.

Rich, thanks for the clarification on the stud sizes.
