Just some eye candy from the "early days" of yamaha's sno-pro racing.
Dick Trickle on a SR433; Frans Rosenquest on a SSR; and two SR's grass dragging

Who has more to add??? lets see how many we can add to this....

the ssr's are really sexy. Just wish yamaha could have had more time to develop the sled. from what I've heard, they just were not competive in '78

had a hard time getting them to handle properly, might have been a little advanced and the racers didnt have enough time to figure it out and set it up well

Actually they were not advanced, compared to the Doo’’s of the day. The front is just a couple of rods bolted to the skis. About the only thing they did was stop the skis from folding under and move up and down. :o|

As mentioned before, we came out of retirement to drive Larry’s Yamaha’s, one weekend, after he and Yamaha had a parting of the ways.

The mod was insane power and the stocker handled better. Politics only let us drive them for the weekend then they left back to BC. Set up for Larry, they scrubbed off a ton of speed on the turns. :whine:

With our old skid and clutching the things would have been untouchable.

As they were – you had to let off the gas to turn in – can’t win races that way.

As most Yamaha’s go, they had lots of potential. Like the old 77’s, drove one of those for a dude as well – he simply took some of the caster (cut and weld) out and the thing was like on a rail. :dunno:

yea, I'm just a newbie, but thought removing caster would allow the front to push more?
hmmmm

:o|
