i was wondering about how much of a job it is to remove the seat on my 2001 srx. I plan on polishing the tunnel right up nice and planned on using some paint remover and dont want to get it on the seat. also should i remove anything else other than the seat to make the polishing job easier?
thanks

Not a pain at all.
First start by un snapping the 2 snaps on each side up front by the tank. Now that you have those off flip the flap up where the seat meats the tank and pull the elastic band that holds the seat tight to the tank out. Now you have the front un attached go to the rear of the seat remove the toolkit this will make it easier to get at the nuts. Search for a nut one on each side of the trunk near the back of it. I think it is a 10mm nut and remove those nuts. The seat is ready to come off now, carefully lift it off of the bolts but not to hard because your tail light wires are connected and you could pull them out. Now with your seat lifted up a little bit reach under it about in the middle you will feel the harness for the tail light wires...Undue that harness and your seat is now disconnected from everything and can be removed and put in a safe place away from where it can get damaged.
If you have any more questions ask

All correct, except the nuts are 12mm

remove the rear bumper cover also. There are 2 bolts on either side holding it in place.
