haven't been around in a while i know....just seems to be that when the weather is so nice its hard to think about snowmobiling! the sleds been sitting apart for about 3 months now, finally got around to putting it back together the other day.

my last ride of the season (also first ride on my new motor), had a terrible grinding coming out of the chain case. i was a bit apprehensive on tackling this repair myself, as this is my frist sled. but nontheless everything came apart no problem, i was aple to replace all the bearings with ease, but not comes the hard part, reassembly. i got the driveshaft back in along with the track and MOST of the rear suspension.....here is my problem. i cant line up the middle set of bolts!!!!! seems as if there is too much force from that middle spring, and i can only get it within a half an inch of where it needs to be. any tips? i got the front 2 and back 2 in, and completed all the reassembly under the hood. just have these 2 bolts which are keeping me from getting my sled out of the garage and getting my car back in!!!

Try loosening the bolts on the bottom of the transfer rods, then pull the skid downward. This will take off some of the preload tension from the rear shock.

Also put the fra in the soft setting, it will make colapsing the spring easier. Maxdlx

or just use a set of ratchet straps(tie down straps) to pull it into place. that is what i did when we put the ripsaw on my sxr.

like leeantl say, loosen the bolts at the lower end of the transfer rods! that will do it!!

I had the same problem when I changed my track. It was hell getting in the 2 middle bolts,a lot of swearing to say the least, and it was a hot day outside to boot. But what you are saying about the transfer rods ,loosen the bolts, really. I am going to change my stock transfer rods with adjustable ones, what is the easiest way to do so?Do I take the whole suspension out,or just loosen rear bolts and raise back end up.

you dont have to monkey around with the transfer rods. Get a good size prybar out and put the sled on its side. An extra pair of hands is helpful to put the bolts in. Just pry it where it needs to be, you are only fighting the spring. Done it many times. Good luck and lock-tite the bolts.

I think in the tech pages it will explain how to swap a suspension or Track and if i remember right you start at the front 2 bolts then put the middle bolts and then the last 2 in the rear, We put a viper suspension in an SRX and after 1.5 hours with 2 people we gave up, packed it in for the night and the next day it took 15 minutes and we did what BBlueSRX did and used a prybar ;)!

take a milk crate or big piece of wood and lift the back of the sled up and put it under the front of the track just after the bend on the rails. you might have to move it front or back depending on how close the holes line up. and yes loosen the transfer rod bolts, dont touch the fra. you will see how the suspension reacts by pushing down on the bumper a little to get the bolts to line up.
