Is the expert that much better than a proaction? I have been toying with the idea of getting one for my 00 sxr-7. Is it worth the money?

most other suspensions are better than the pro action. what kind of riding do you do? if you ride really hard then the expert or a polaris pro x suspension would be great, if you trail ride and beat it up a bit then a m-10 or a polaris edge or a ski doo sc10 III would be better. any of them will ride a lot better than what you have, but i dont think its worth putting a $1,000+ m-10 or expert in a 7 year old sled. thats why i mentioned the doo or poo skids. both are a huge improvement and cost less than $400 used in nice shape.Blue Hornet said:Is the expert that much better than a proaction? Totally agree with that.
Pro-x are great suspensions!
A stiffly valved M-10 will trail ride the toughest $hit better than anything IMO. I can smoke bye rev's no problem, even in the tough stuff.
You can get them used for under $400 and rebuild/revalve to your needs.

oops, i meant $1,000 m-10 not edge!vipertripplexxx said:Totally agree with that.

sj said:shocks and valving makes a big difference but the pro action suspension design is limited...yes it's all relative to what you just rode...ride a m-10 sled then jump on a ohlins modified proaction sled and tell me it rides good...lol
if you really are hellbent on changing your shocks...see if you can find a set of "works"...they are a lot less...but,it isnt the shocks so much as the geometry of the suspension..it's m-10 for best ride and expert close behind with best all around performance!
i have an m10 now and i do love the sled with it. you do loose speed, buy an 8in wheel kit for it and run the track super loose and it works great.
as for the above mentioned geometry quote, it really has little to do with it. the pro actions geometry is near exact to the m10. shocks and springs are all the difference in a skid. unfortunatly yamaha never made great shocks for a pro action. the viper updates would have to be the closest to a good shock that ive tried.
ive used ohlins and the problem with ohlins is that this company is not interested in ride. they make shocks to last, perform and to handle. ohlins need to be made to ride good. either revalved, or resprung for the best ride.
the fronts alway seem great because this you dont ride on the front, they take a beating, and handle great even stiff sprung.
m10s ride great because of two things, shocks and springs. the do there home work. as far as geometry, they suck. ive never seen any skid with the track tension geometry so screwed up. you run it hanging and when you sit on it it becomes tighter, the more you compress it the more it tightens, thats some great geometry.
i asked fast if the sold a 8in wheel kit to fix their other problem(speed, funny a company named "fast" sells a suspension that goes slow). they told me there wasnt any speed loss and that if you installed a 8in wheel it would mess up the track tension geometry that is built into the suspension?????????
helloooooooo, that part is already screwed up.
now back to the shocks. if you are looking for long lasting shocks, buy ohlins, you may have to do some messing around with springs and or valving to get it to ride great if your trail riding. if you want ride i have heard nothing but great things about works for ride.
if your going to use the pro action search some of my posts and you will find many fixes for the skids lasting issues, and a few tricks to adjust it the easy way.

i think for geometry he was referring to the rate of rise. isnt the m-10 a falling rate (like the poo xtra 12) and the pro action a rising rate (like most other suspensions)? i always thought the rate of rise on the pro action was too great, making the suspension stiffen too much as it goes through its travel.BETHEVIPER said:i have an m10 now and i do love the sled with it. you do loose speed, buy an 8in wheel kit for it and run the track super loose and it works great.

Seems like the Expert X is the way to go over Bender Reaction, at least for me, super transfer, super ride, and the option to adjust for really rough trails

either way were helping him deciede whats best for him. the reaction and expert shouldnt be compared. totally different intended usage on the 2. m-10 vs. reaction would be more like it.
hmmm, last time i checked the title of the thread didn't ask for opinions on the m10, just the expert and reaction. i think if he wanted opinions on the m10 it would have said "expert x/bender reaction/ m10 opinions" who cares what the intended use of each one is, just wanted advice for the expert and reaction. so

this is SRXtrafast's thread, not yours. if he doesnt want my input then he can tell me to get lost. i was just giving my input to help him choose the right suspension and tell him about other options he might not know about and save him money.TimeBomb said:hmmm, last time i checked the title of the thread didn't ask for opinions on the m10, just the expert and reaction. i think if he wanted opinions on the m10 it would have said "expert x/bender reaction/ m10 opinions" who cares what the intended use of each one is, just wanted advice for the expert and reaction. so![]()
