i am thinking of buying a 2004 viper s and i was wondering if you guys think i should take the blue hood, fairings, seat, skiloops, skidplate, traction brackets and anything else that is blue and put it on the 04 and then take the 04 stuff and put it on the 02 and sell the 02 with the 04 stuff on it so i have a blue 04 viper s er because i would take the reverse and electric start of my 02 blue er and put it on the 04 or do you think i should keep the 04 red and black but just put the reverse and electric on it i was wondering because i really like blue vipers (hence the reason i switched my red er to blue) and i am not sure if i really want a red/black viper but i do want the 04 because it has the ohlins and is two years newer so what do you think i should do if i buy the 04

I personally think you should leave the 04 the way it is. It is a VERY handsome machine, among the nicest Vipers ever produced.
NOW I KNOW, the big problem here is that Yamaha blue is a wicked color, and more or less defines us, but really, its the sled you ride, not the color. So maybe bite the bullet(not really) and ride a red and black sled. It looks super sweet in black and red anyways, and not many people have that particular Viper.
My sled is not Yamaha blue, but still is Yamaha, and looks totally bitchin!

I Would prefer the blue . The viper i really like is the 2004 viper er without the ohlins because it has no red on it and a silver seat ! But on the down side you dont get the ohlins.
If you get the 2004 i would look for a silver seat like the viper without the ohlins.
Or maybe just deck her out with your 2002 hood /seat ect..

I had the same mental problem when I bought my S after having a blue Venom.
The Viper is sharp on the snow, I am going to change to a black snow flap as the red looks like lipstick to me, and I guess I'll buy a new jacket at one of the shows this year.
I got a lot of crap last season for wearing my Yami Blues..

I have the black/silver. Really like the colors of both mine and the S. I would leave it.

I'd leave it red it black - I can put on a 225 mile day and maybe see one sled like mine if any others like it at all.
I second that as well, the fact that they only made the sled for one model year makes it a bit of a rareity.

Id really prefer the blue but if the 2004 sled is in mint condition (SEAT ,HOOD ECT..) I would leave it alone.viperking said:so quebec 1 if you had the choice would you take the blue over the red/black

well another thing that crossed my mind is that the 04 is not very customizeable i mean there is already a skidplate, traction brackets and red snowflap on it so the only things i could do to it would be winsdhield, hood screens, c&a skis, bar ends and handguards because the only billet recoil handle is silver so it would not look good on a red sled also the only billet gas caps and stuff are also the wrong color for a red sled and i had a really cool idea for painting the hood and fairings on my 02 but i couldn't do that to the 04 because it would look dumb on the red/black sled
