Anybody tried this on a viper or any other 2 stroke for that matter? Its very popular on cars and offers GREAT detonation resisitance. With the availability of controllers you coudl set it to turn on during RPM or vacumn pressure or even EGT as a input. On my piped viper I'm thinking this would be great for the timing spike at 8400-8600 rpm.
Most people can just use windshield washer fluid as that is 38-42% meth, making sure to get the meth stuff and not the glycol based fluid. I'm just worried that the meth maybe reacts differently on a two stroke over a 4 and maybe reduces lubrication?
Thoughts?

I thought you never use meth in a 2 stroke!

I know you cant run staight meth as a gas replacement, but didn't know when your doing it as supplmental to the fuel.

you can do it, it'll drop your EGT tho (which is why it helps with detonation) the problem here is that it throws the pipe out of tune, since the pipe is set-up to work at a certain EGT. Colder EGT will decrease the speed of sound, effectivly lowering the powerband, same as if you'd lengthened the pipe. Could be that it actually helps, if you're using a high RPM pipe, this will help take some of the bog out of it. I've heard of watercraft motors injecting water into the pipe for this reason.
I guess it comes down to what kinda levels you're planning on injecting and how you're gonna control it.

Do you know what EGT the SLP pipes are tuned for on a viper?

couldn't tell ya man. the issue is more of the % difference tho, not where. but keep in mind that the percent difference is in reference to 0*k not 0*c.

That's what I thought so is it a big deal to worry about? I was thinking that if the EGT hit 1300 it would spray till it got to 1200 then quit spraying, etc. It would be just that little edge. Or I could do it based on a RPM switch at 8300 just before the timing spike. Not sure what protects the best as burndowns can happen at any range and under 1200 EGT. What would be the ultimate failsafe?

I'd be more inclined to use the injection as a torque booster, as opposed to as protection. best protection is to just use a CDI with knock sensor support.
for power, it'd be best to have a window switch that kicks on around 5500 and kicks off around 8500.
or run a dyno pass with the spray and without, set the window switch to kick it off where the tq curves overlap.

Just my opinion here, but you are worrying WAY too much about your SLP pipes. There is literally thousands of Vipers with pipes out there and maybe 10% had a problem with burn downs. Set the sled up correctly the first time and you won't have any problems.
-Mega Power or SRX heads
-SRX rear heat exchanger
-SRX base gasket
-Opticool head gasket (if using stock Viper head)
-Run a heat range 10 spark plug instead of 9's if you're real worried about it
-Make sure you bleed the cooling system properly and thoroughly!!!
Go enjoy your added HP!!

LOL yeah I'm a worry wart I'm running the CPR head mod with opticool, planned on BR9ECS but will look in to the 10's. I want to jet to -20 but if its pig rich then I'm not good enough (or have enough ambition) to swap jets out on a trip so I will have to live with it being a pig (ie doggy, 5mpg, etc) during that whole trip which would stink. That is why I got a tempaflow to help adjust so I don't have to hassle with it. Just want to ride with 150hp!
SrxSpec you have done lots of set ups SLP's -20 jetting good to go, with no dogging out etc?

What about using it as the gas source for a wet Nos kit. Would it make more power. Just get a small additional fuel cell, and run it to the fuel pump. HUMMMM might work for even more power. Maxdlx

On a four stroke they can get away with injecting small amount of 50/50 water/methanol mix because none of intake charge every touches a bearing. Running a water/methanol mix through ALL the bearings maybe a issue with a two stroke over time. If you run 100% methanol you will still have to go with a spec oil that will mix with methanol. Years ago Aerocharger made a kit like what your talking about for turbo sleds. You could run pump gas and big boost. Some guys just added a second fuel sys with float bowls and power jets and ran methanol through the power jet.

The oil is easy enough. We race Karts, and the one class is 2 stroke yamahas on alky. So there is my oil, and of course we run alky, so theres my methanol. Hummmm Maxdlx

Its a great power adder max and all you need is a input to switch the controllers on and off. You could use the boss tanker seat for the tank, or there is room next to the exhaust outlet for a gallon tank. I just don't know how well the controllers and electronics would hold up under winter conditions. It would be fun to play with if I actually had snow arund here and could mess with the stuff. The way it is we have to drive and its a mad rush just to get some miles on to justify the damn things!

I have a wet NOS kit coming, so I need a spare fuel tank anyways. I may have to try it. Maxdlx

Max I would venture a guess that you will be able to use stock jetting WITH pipes on meth and still be too rich, it like always having 108 oct in the tank
