Ok, I know this is in the wrong forum but it does not seem like anybody looks at the PWC forum. I have a waverunner III that is with out spark. I found this checklist for the stator and coil on the web. To stop you from having to read the whole thing the only thing that does not check out is the coil resistance (.92ohms +/-10%) and mine only reads .5ohms. Is this enough out of wack to cause no spark or is there a way to check the stator?
Ok here we go, STATOR COIL CHECK - 101
The wires coming from the stator into the black electrical box, and connect to the CDI(Square black box inside the electrical box) Get your trusty multimeter. Set on ohms.
Test the brown wire. Brown to grounding on the block. Should read (365 ohm +/_10%) 364
Test the white with red tracer. Test to ground. Should read (14 ohm +/- 10%) 15
Test both greens, green to green. Should be (.9 ohms +/- 10%) 1.4
Test each individual green to ground. Should be open or ( zero ohms) checks
Test the small orange and black wires coming out of the ignition coil that has the sparkplug wires coming out of it. It should test (.92 ohms +/- 10%) .5
Don't forget to check the electrical box to see if it is grounded by the black wire coming from the stator assembly behind the flywheel. Test from the engine block to the metal side of the electrical box.
If any one of those test bad, new coils can be soldered and bolted in place($35) instead of buying a whole stator plate assembly($250).
If that all checks out, the CDI took a dump on you.
