Did you check the coils?

coils seem to check out. just check the two wires for resistance, right?

If the wires got bare and touched the metal while it was running, its anyones guess, but solving no spark is fairly simple in these things. You may have simply ruined the p/u coil, its located down by your stator, bolts on your case with 2 small bolts, it sends the signal to the cdi which in turn sends the voltage to the coils.
If it were me, I would use a digital voltmeter set on the 20 scale and hook into the p/u coil, and when you pull the engine over, you should see varible voltage, meaning it will show like 3.1-4.2 volts or whatever and wont be steady as you cant pull the engine over quick enuff. This means its working, then go up to the cdi box and see if you show the same signal going in???, then check wire coming out to the coils???, should be some voltage, let us know we can go from there.
the other items over there by the cdi are the smoothing condensor, voltage regualtors, the 98-99 have 2 of em.

So do you have a signal going into and out of the cdi box????
you are gonna have to do basic checks before you know what part is bad. Just because something is new is not the answer to diagnose a no spark problem, if thats the case you could just buy every single electrical piece and be done, then if ya have no spark what would you do?
go out and do the checks that I gave you. You have to work from the source to the end to find the problem.

ok, ill do those checks but can you tell me how to check the smoothening condeser?

so whats the status on the checks????????? whats the voltage readings>??? do you have voltage coming from pick up coil? do you have voltage going into cdi box? do you have voltage coming out of cdi box to coils?
If you want someone to help you, will need to follow directions, if you dont want to.... no problem, I wont waste yours or my own time.
the smoothing condensor is a long way down the list yet.

Smoothing condensor has absolutely nothing to do with loss of spark. The smoothing condensor simply makes it so the tach isn't jumpy and erratic. I don't run a smoothing condensor because I run a VDO tach and no problems. Follow through the tips that Mrviper700 has given you and you will get it going.

i want to check componants not wiring. tell me how to check the other stuff besides the cdi and stator. im sure the wirings good and the cdi and stator. question; on the four prong plug to the cdi what is the wire color order with the lock tang on top? my plug was broken when the belt blew.

Do the checks, dont be hard headed and your sled will be fixed today, if you post what is happening, its a simple process of elimination but you have to do checks in a order to diagnose a problem, not the way you think. When you say the alphabet you start from Ato Z, not from Q to z to D to E.

ok pri and sec checked. voltage ok. the out voltage at the coils is around 20v.

So, you have voltage that varies coming out of the stator and pick up coil???, you checked this down at the plugs with white wires coming out of engine?????then you checked it at the cdi box going in and its the same voltage, meaning the wiring is complete and working!! ??? Then coming out of the cdi box, orange wire to the coils is more voltage then you have going into cdi box??? you checked this at the box connector and at the coil rack right??? and its 20 volts at coils on the orange wire?????????...............Sorry,it would be running!!!. Something doesnt sound right here, I think your a little off on your checks, these 4 things are the only componets that alter spark. Pick up coil, stator, cdi box and coil rack.
the key switch can be simply unplugged on a 98-99, and it will run. The handle bar kill switch????????? ever check that?
check 1 item at a time and post.
if you destoyed the cdi and the wiring plugs are junk, you must have a broken wire in the plug, if you checked the list like I gave you, you would have found that broken wire, because you start from the source and work your way to the end(coils)
whats the voltage on the white/yellow wire and the white/black wire going into the dc regulator on the footwell when you pull the engine over???
and then the brown wire on same componet??

dont get confused im not incapable, i was in a rush for the first week now i have time. that being said...answers to your questions, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. are the coils shot? dont know, they have continuity. key switch disconnected. mind you, it is just like it was after the belt blew and it ran prior to that. kill switch checked, teather checked, will check dc reg wires asap tonite.

w/y to w/b .3 vdc 8 vac. br to bl 0 vdc or ac, br to gnd 0 vac or dc. coils are still 20 vdc and around 150 vac.

LOl, I didnt mean to imply you were incapable...........
ok, let me know what ya find

orange is coil feed from cdi, brown comes from stator, black with white tracer comes from key switch, brown with red tracer comes from stator.
I have a set of 98/99 coils out here, I will go throw the meter on them and tell you what i get and then you can check yours.
BTW- when you look at the 4 wire plugged removed from the cdi box, with the slot for lock tab pointing up, reading from left to right, it should be as follows, the orange and the black/white would be in the top row, then the brown and the brown/red.
