I have a Hauck CDI out of a 1998 SRX. I was going to put it in my 2001 SRX, until i realized they are different. Am I going to have to get an '01 CDI, or is it a wiring issue?

The CDIs are also different between the 00 and 01. I have on 00 that is new. I ordered the wrong one. Now I am stuck. Brad

1998-1999 are the same
2000 New Head light & magneto
2001 updated from 2000 with dual hand & thumb warmer knobs (no longer on one dial)
2002 updated from 2001 DCS was added

So the only two years that share the same CDI are the 1998-1999 models.

ALLAN, PLEASE EXPLAIN !!! I REMEBER ONCE AND I PROBLEY SAVED IT YOU TOLD ME THEIR WAS NO DEFFERENCE IN CDI 00-02. I ASKED YA THIS BECAUSE I HEARD 2001 SRX CDI WORKS BETTER ON 2000 SRX AS A PERFORMANCE UPGRADE. YOU TOLD ME THEY WERE ALL THE SAME. I AM SHURE OF IT BECAUSE I SAVED YOUR INFO. 3:16 (tony)

Tony, the ignition curve & powervalve curve within the CDI unit itself is the same. It's the actual plug-ins that are different from 2000-2002 due to the addition of seperate hand & thumb warmers and DCS system. A 2001 cdi box will not even plug into a 2000 wire harness.

Valin, I have a 01 race box for a srx. I assume your running your engine over 8500rpm?

There is no adapter. Hauck will either sell you a box that works on a 2001 or 2002 or sell you a 2000 cdi with the wire harness.
i have a '99 srx with the hauck box and no wire harness. they must make them that way.

hauck had boxs for all the years of the srx except 2002. The 98-99 used the same harness, I had one for my 2000 srx thats plugged right into 2000 harness as well, then when the 2001 came out he had them for the 01, but now if you go to buy one now for the 2000, you have to convert the wiring harness to the 01, they dont make any more boxs for the 2000.
