Do you think if we got enough people we could get Yamaha to offer a reasonably priced seat foam replacement kit for the Vipers with the rock hard seat? Just curious what the interest would be?
Thanks,

I highly doubt Yamaha would even bother offering a different density foam for the Viper now.

I guess you can still get shocks - I was just thinking they may to increase resale values, it would be a good selling point for Yamaha.
Before I installed my Boss on my Viper, I rode 1 season with a seat from an SX. Had to adapt the plug for the taillight, but it was a MUCH more comfortable seat. Might be an option for you. My seat cover ripped on my original seat and was replaced under warranty. When I had it installed I took it to an automobile upholstery shop. Had them add about 2" of denser foam.
It was better, but the real problem is the foam block in the bottom of the seat. Scott,[Bethviper], did have a mod for this. Use the search function, and you should be able to find it. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do. I must addthis. The Boss seat is worth the cost. Single best improvement I made to my sled. Lighter, and very comfortable to sit and ride on.

Yamaha wouldnt bother. besides, they want to sell NEW sleds, they make no $$$$ on resale values of out-of-date sleds

03VG - Sad, but probably true...
100 plus shipping back.
I had a buddy who took a 1.5" hole saw and drilled out foam plugs from the underside of his Cat seat foam , thinking this would help keep the foam from absorbing so much moisture. This softened the seat cosiderably. I dont remember how many holes or how deep he went with the holes, but it may be an option.
If your seat has a hard plastic foam insert sandwitched in the middle of seat, this may not help!
Good luck

Seat foam swap
Check your PM's, sent you a note about swapping foams or entire seats like we had discussed earlier. Can have pics to you in a couple days of the entire seat. Haven't tore it apart yet but will if you are still interested.
Thanks,
