Just finished, bad pics, Hauk 5" rotating riser and 1" aluminum block. Now at wiring in parallel and wire loom to hide wiring.

Even with cutting bar in half needed silicone and rubber mallet to get throttle assembly over slight bend. All cables stock as about 2 1/2" higher than stock bar

Looks great!
I'm doing almost the exact mod on my sled. Only difference is i have a powermadd instead of a hauk riser. The Cat bar feels alot nicer than the banana stock bar.

not bad at all, looks a lot like mine with that windy :) not to steal the thread, but anyone know if you can get the setup that yamaha is using as a replacement/upgrade for the 06 bars? the one peice with full heaters just like cat sounds nice :)

Sled is a lot more than Blue Chrome windshield.

If you want to put aftermarket bar/grips on a Yamaha you will not be able to use the Yamaha control as it only puts out 6 volts no matter what you do, must be regulated at the CDI as the power wire only brings 6 volts, resistors would not help. You need to use a toggle switch wired to a 12 volt source.

To fool the Yamaha control and get rid of the trouble light just connect the yellow.power and black leads that the stock grips are wired into and the trouble light will go out.

Many hours spent and many options tried, anybody that tells you they work are only getting 6 volts and half the heat out of the new grips.

didnt mean to say it was only a windy, just commenting that we had the same one is all :) thanks for the info on the wiring etc. that apply for the yamaha setup too? didnt realize they were using different grips now

jimmie_d: There is a few guys on a swedish forum that rides, or have ride, with aftermarket warmers on the Viper. According to them it's working great when you parallel them.
Will get back to ya when i've tried it myself.

Please do as no matter what we did the voltage coming out of the yellow/red? wire that you connect to was only six volts. This is the wire the stock grips are connected to. We added a resistor at this circuit to bring it up to 10 Ohms but still minimum heat at the grip and only 6 volts.

i have aftermarket elements with hooks on my viper and have had zero issues. They work much better than the stock ones.

I just received a PM from a guy that sent me all the wiring instructions, knows his stuff, said he could not understand why mine was a problem. Told him to check his voltage output to the grips, what do you know he only has 6 volts also and only half the heat. I suggest all you guys that claim yours are working check the same way and become surprised that you also are only at half heat unless you wired to a toggle switch wired to a 12 volt source. The Yamaha CDI only puts out 6 volts thru the wire connected thru the CDI to the grips.

so you think this would be an issue if I was to put the updated bars for the 06 apex on my sled since they are yamaha grips etc?

The 06 bars and grips received many complaints from riders for not getting hot enough. You would have to see if the 06 grips are compatible, 6 volts and 2 ohms each. I believe the 06 were heat wrap elements rather than actual grips with heaters in them and may be 12 volts. I will not advise you as I have never done it and don't like theory posters.

I meant the one peice bars with hooks that they are offering as a replacement for the bars that got complaints :) they are pretty much the same idea as the cat bars, one peice with heaters all the way to the hooks. thanks for all the info, and sweet sled youve got there!
