Now that I have my 7.5 rear wheels installed and the over sized idler wheels installed I really wonder what tension my track should be set up at.The FRA is set at the softest mode. The limiter strap threads are set up at approx 1/2" past the threaded plate that they go through. My middle shock is set up at minimum pressure.I read that what Yamaha says about track tension, their specs are actually to tight. I read that possibly at 16 lbs pull on the track,I should have nearly 1 1/4" space. With no pull the space is about 1 inch. That still feels tight to me.If I set the track at 1 1/4" sag by it self,it should be ok. But put the 16 lb pull to it and I get abould 1 3/4" gap.A friend of the family who races sleds told me to loosen the track a fair amount and then drive it hard to see if it ratchets,if so tighten a bit and go again and so forth until the ratcheting stops.Well do I set the track up very loose first, like maybe a 1 1/2" sag and go from there. There must be a rule of thumb on this one. Does somebody know. What have you guys done for track tension,I am curious. Thanks.

I started out with about 1" of sag with no down force. This is about what i'm at right now and very seldom get any ratcheting. Like your friend said... typically you want to go as loose as you can without ratcheting

Blue,
I tighten the track so that you can slide your little finger between the track and slider (midway) with only gravity pulling the track down. I tried it a little looser last season and had ratcheting.
I plan on looking for skis at Hay Days. You going?

P.S. Pictures of my pipes installed coming soon!!!
