Before :
After :
Can't wait to ride it now!
I mounted the arms 23" apart, and managed to use the stock rear mount. I used some 1/4" thick 4" angle for the front arm, mounted outside the tunnel while adding extra support for the running boards.
Fits very well, I can't wait to ride it now. Bouncing up and down on the seat in the garage just aint cutting it.
I think it's about 1.5 - 2" higher now in the rear, and the approach angle is MUCH improved. I think it will be better in the deep snow...
Now, if only I could lift the front up a bit to compensate...? idears...?

I think the SX had the same struts as the VX XT... I have adjustable pre-load on mine anyways...?

Nice Sled ! I want a SX ! The 94-96 Vmax 5/600 struts are 15 7/8" long and overall with the upper spring shaft (?) 26", The top housing (red on my sled) are 11 3/4". The picture of My Exciter with Vmax struts the distance between the ski knuckle and steering yoke is 6 7/8" and the stock Phazer beside it is 5 1/4" which is the same for an Exciter but, not the SX. If you know the advertized travel of the SX and compare it to the 94-96 Vmax's you will have your answer ! There are also, the 96 Vmax 600 XT struts if you can find some ?

Hmm, the VX struts do look longer.
Where did you find a skid plate for that exciter?...
I know you can get them for Phazer's but I've never seen them for Exciter's.
Thanks for the comments.

I believe you're right ! It was an E-Bay purchase from a dealer in Canada, I used a little heat from a hair dryer and slowly pulled it into shape with longer 1/4" bolts altough, it could be a little wider it still fits and looks pretty decent !

Mars,
They're not hard to find if you watch the parts forums !
You need the longer shock covers, springs and aluminum knuckles along with the struts. You can find them fairly reasonable on E-bay, any parts forum or salvage yards !
But, these are hard to find !
I bought a set of brand new(rare) Genuine Yamaha GYT Kit struts off of E-bay that were an upgrade for the Vmax 5-600 sleds with adjustable dampening, rebound and slightly longer travel for $75.00 ! Yamaha part # SMA-8CA91-10-00
There are different springs for the T.S.S. and I've tried to find a spring rate chart but, only found one for the older/shorter springs. The springs are fairly soft in that the 94-95's and had like 1.5" of sag called (sit in) from Yamaha and Bender Racing made a kit to increase the travel with I believe stiffer Springs ?

man, no wI really like the sx exciter again lol!!! keep finding sleds I think would be neat to have. like a 96 xt (dad had one and it was kind of neat), exciter sx, an xcr 440, a phazer in the old chassis to mod up, a proaction phazer to mod up, another 600sx like I used to have, vmax 4 like I used to have, 670 HO,................... damn the list could go ON AND ON!!! lol, nice looking sled, and a real nice and worthwhile upgrade!! let us know how it rides!

I just wish it was a tad bit more reliable. I burned 4 pistons last year...
I am going through the whole thing now, crank seals, bore and new pistons again. hopefully it lasts.
I am going back to the stock pipe for the year, this PSI is wearing / rusting thin, and it has already craked once.
Going to goto premix on this one too.
Wish I could afford a 700 SX, or something more reliable... New Phazer looks awsome too!
