I had this problem last year and I am trying to fix it before the snow flies....I can't figure this one out...I own a 2000 Venture 600 the red high temp light comes on, sometimes when I first start it up ( but not all the time ), I disconnected the connector to the high temp sensor and the light still comes on, at times the sled could be idling and it will just die or I will have it pinned going across the lake and it will die, as soon as the sled stops I can start it up no problem..I have disconnected the TORS, checked ALL the wiring for broken wires...Help!! Does anyone have any ideas..The dealer ships have told me that it is going to be very costly to figure out if they do it...I figure someone at Total Yamaha could give me the right direction ...Thank You in advance ...
I need to know if the information is right in my repair manual..I tested my TORS switch at the carburetor and I get 0 when the throttle is at rest and infinity when I squeeze the throttle, my manual says it should be the other way..Does anyone know for sure ?????

Did your headlight flicker at the same time as the loss of power...do you loose power when turning...is your sled batteryless...check wires around the steering and kill switch then under the seat also the rear light socket for rot...not sure but did your sled give codes from your light-you would have to ask your local dealer for the codes, another codes, maybe? check the throttle that it is not gummed up and does't let the cable back and it sets off the tors... this is all possible and has happened to me and others....hope this helps and please post your findings
