I know this topics has been raised in various forms before but thought I would throw it out there again:

I want to put plastic skis on a Phazer II but don't want to throw a lot of $$ into them; figured I coudl pick up a pair of stock cast offs; the question-qhich ones?

I mainly trail ride with a little back woods riding thrown in-So I guess I'm looking for flotation and handling.

Suggestions? Old SRX MountainMax skis? -Apex, Rage? what? Help!

thanks.

I put a set of 2000 MM skis on the Phazer. I bought a mount from USI and then fit it to the skis. My old carbides are a bit much for it, it steers real heavy but once you are moving it handles much better than the steel ski.
Would I do it again? Yes.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing LoneViper did with my (new to my daughter's) 1990 Phazer II. I purchased the USI aluminum ski mounts and am looking to buy a used set of red or black skis for it. I have a set of cat stock plastics but not sure they will work without modifying the USI bracket that I just paid $110 for.

By the way...when I called USI and purchased these brackets....the lady indicated they don't have many Phazer mounts left. Unless you can machine or modify your own, I would bite the bullet and buy a pair from them. They want $140 but they will take $110.

I dropped my seld off at CBPerformance-going to let Bruce work his magic-I am palcing a set of Viper Moutain skis (black loops and skis) on a '96 Phazer.

I will also have a pair of SRX takeoffs after CB does some work on my '02 SRX-going to use those on the '91 Phazer.

I guess I have more money than sense . . . but life is short and the old pogo iron makes me happy :)

Then you can buy a set of USI Tunnelwide bottoms (skis). They will fit the bill for you with good flotation and low cost. They have been discontinued, but I think they still have some left at a good price. The only drawback is that the colors left are the unpopular ones -if that bothers you. You could also watch eBay for some brackets or complete skis.

PZ 1, ended up buying set of used USI vx-301 for the phazer. I'm a little concerned about the turning effort (for a 2 year old). When I went to C&A on another sled, the turning effort was much more than the stockers. We'll see, I guess.

We put Artic Cat plastic skis on ours. The skis are a ton better than the steel ones and the mounting is real close. Cat skis are cheap !!
