I've noticed that a lot of you guys remove the front heat exchange protectors from your vipers......i'm curious as to why and should I do this? I have a 1 1/4" ripsaw track on my viper.....I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons before I go ahead with something like this....any suggestions????
thanks

I only removed mine because my track was hiting the protectors. THe protectors are for if you run studs if you don't run studs you don't really need them. Eric

I run a 1 1/4 ripsaw.....the track does hit the protectors, I don't notice it much but I do when I hit hard into a bump....so if you guys are teling me that the protectors are only for studs...the protectors are comming off, I have no plans on getting studs, I have no use for them

When you guys removed your protectors.....did you have trouble accessing all of the weld spots? Did you have to drop the suspension to access it? I've bees sizing up the job for the last couple of days. thanks....

Drill out the rivets. And you're good to go.

Is it possible to do this with the suspension untouched?

there are no rivets on the front exchanger guards, they are welded on, and without the track removed its gonna be really hard to do.

some of the front exchanger protectors are welded, some are riveted. It just depends on what sled and year it is. Either way it is EASIER to do with the track and driveshaft removed, but CAN be done with it all still in there.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna try to get it done without removing anything.....if that don't work I guess I'll haul everything off.....
