Are these skids a durible enough skid to withstand the aggresive riding in the midwest, like the UP and their bumpy trails?

Any other problems after that? I would hate to invest this kind of cash to just break it. Especially when I put a Turbo on it the sled.

nope, from what i heard pretty indestrucable. m-10's had a short run where they were breaking from to much abuse, but not heard of any experts breaking (doesn't mean it hasn't happened tho) pretty solid from what i've heard.

I tried my best to break one....couldn't do it. They are a pretty beefy skid....I can't imagine what you would have to do to break one.

I've got an original Expert. Iv'e busted several bolts on the rear cross shaft, and managed to bend the rear cross shaft. but thats nothing compared to the hurting I put on the stock suspension.

Oh wait I broke a bogey when my track blew apart, not that big of a deal though

Pretty tough
I've had one in three different sleds. I did break a cross shaft bolt once. The new ones, however come w/ grade 10 bolts in that shaft and I havn't heard of one of them breaking yet. I do run an extra cross shaft in mine where the bolt holes are for the DTS mount on top in the middle of the swing arms. This really helps to stiffen it up and takes out some flexing. All in all its a great skid.....I think one of the best and certainly THE most fun ride I have experienced. That's my .02

you can position it verticaly wereever you want for stud clearance. there are some guidlines in the instructions. you'd have to do something custom to get 8" wheels to fit.
As long as I get the studs I need in there is the most important thing. I'll have to see if I can get my 8" wheels to fit without tearing up anything. If worst comes to worst, I'll leave the skid witht he stock wheels.

For 8" wheels you may need an adapter for the rear of the rails on a 136" but not an offset axle.

pm madmatt he had some extensions to go to 136 with 8" wheels last year. he may still have them.
Put about 900 miles on one with no issue's, and being 250lbs I place a little extra a$$ into it!

I now have this wonderful looking suspension in my shop. Man, she is perty. Almost don't want to run it. I mounted my 8" wheels to the stock axle just to have a visual and I like what I see. Now, I just need to make sure I won't have any issues running an 8" wheel and 144 studs up the middle.

Like this?
Here is a 136" Expert X w/ custom 136 rail extensions for 8" wheels and 240 studs up the middle. A few other mods on that sled though. Oh, and my "stocker" too. Same rail extensions.

My old nonX Expert was a little heavier than stock. I think most of what the X is is lighter and better shocks.
MadMatt,
I alread have the AD Boivin 136 extensions. I think I'm going to leave it stock size for now. For future referance, where do I get an off set axle from? Will it be the axle for a ski-doo?
