Bent Frame

I seem to have a slight bend in the frame beneath the LH motor mount on a 1994 yamaha vmax st. The motor "dips" about 1/4-1/2 inches, and the motor mount is bent. I'm hoping replacing the motor mount and using some method to bend the frame back slightly (if the motor mounts don't fix it). Any suggestions or is the sled junk....I was hoping to compensate for the possible frame bend with a larger bushing or a large fender washer, something to that effect.. Thanks.

I would NOT bend it back because it could further weaken it. As long as it is still structurally sound, just shim it in a secure manner to get the engine aligned right with the clutches. This was a somewhat common practice with vintage sleds.

Be sure to check 3-way alignment (center, horizontal, and vertical). In other words, make the crankshaft and the jackshaft are truly perpedicular and the right distance apart.

Hmm. If i understand the sound of where you're having trouble, maybe try and re-inforce it a little with some 3/16 - 1/4" flat bar? This will at least help it from bending any more... probably the last thing you want right now
