Ok I was wrong that yamaha website did have the numbers.. But It was sort of cofusing
8V0-85540-21-00 1986et340

8G8-85540-20-00 1978

The MFG website claims the cdi is good for 84-86 but they have different #'s. I know a 1978 Cdi works cause I have tried it but still need a replacement. So am thinking the center number the 85540-20-00 is the important # but who knows?

UPDATE Found a buddy with a 86 phazer and tried the cdi, It did not work. It ran poorly so I am thinking the timing curve for the phazer is not the same.

I did win one auction for a enticer 300 cdi for 15 + shipping. The part number for the 300 and 340 is the same according to the yamaha parts online page.. Haven't got it yet to know for sure
