I got an 05 edge suspension and im ready to put it in to my sled. What is the first step I should do? Do you think I should get the PS3 shocks rebuilt? I was told that the skid had 1900 miles on it. The skid is in very nice shape. I think I should get them rebuilt but not sure where I should take the shocks. After I take out the old skid what eles do I take out?

I would get the shocks refreshed. There are several good options for this. Maybe someone in your area will post a local shop.

For the skid mounting, while I haven't done this actual swap, here is some general advice . . .
  1. Make a template from the sled it came out of or one like it. This will give you accurate measurements relative to the driveshaft. If you are changing driver size you will have to take this into consideration. Be sure to be as accurate as possible, as even being off as little as 1/4 inch or so can cause the skid to bind and not work properly.
  2. Give some thought to any ride height difference between the skid. You can raise or lower the template relative to the tunnel somewhat to accomodate it. Just be sure that there is enough clearance for the track any tractions devices.
  3. Once you are sure of placement, you drill the new holes. The front mounts on some skids can be a problem, as they can be hard to get to. Yamaha made provision for the front Pro-Action mounting location through the belly pan, and in the footwell.
  4. You can then move the reinforcement brackets at the current skid mounting locations and reuse them if appropriate.
Making a template is incredibly useful as even after you are all marked to drill you can quickly double and triple check for peace of mind before actually drilling more holes in the tunnel.

Good Luck, and maybe someone else who has swap an Edge in can post more specific info.

i had my ryde fx clickers redone by jbshocks and couldnt be happier. he really knows his polaris stuff. i would send them out just to make sure they are all set. both shocks custom valved should be well under $100 including all the shipping. after you get the old skid out your ready to start measuring, drilling rivets and new mounts. if you need help let me know and ill come by and help.

When you make the template, draw the holes out at regular size, then center a very small drill bit to make you locating holes. It is way easier to keep the holes perfect if you use a small drill bit, to locate the holes and then drill them o proper size. maxdlx
