if i get this done on my 98 700 sx do i have to rejet or anything? what are advantages to getting this done?

if i go with just polish do i have to rejet? also what advantages to this? thanks.

for the polishing its not gonna get you any real power unless combined with the porting, as for the porting you will lose compression but there will be power gained. i think a ported sled is more finicky for the jetting.

well thats not exactly completely true, just because you port a engine does not mean you lose compression UNLESS you raise the exh port, by widening the exh port you stay the same but yet increase the scavenging of the cylinder, which in turn allows the engine to get more fresh fuel/air charge into it, at a faster rate. A engine is a air pump, the faster you can get the old out, the more fresh you can put into it.

The only reason a engine would become finicky is if it were ported to high rpm specs and was used at low rpm trail speeds, trail porting will have no effect on reliability or jetting issues if done correctly.

polishing ports will gain you nothing in a 2 stroke engine except you can say how pretty they are. The only way polishing alone could benefit you is if the castings were extremely rough and had casting flash that distorted the port configurations.

a sx700 motor can be a nice gain, the engines are low compression, jetted very rich from the factory. Trail porting a sx700 will yield around 10-12hp with the stock pipe, ya have to add a rear boost port, mod pistons and work on triple exh ports, widen exh port, work on bottom of transfer ports. No effect on reliability, in fact the engine will run more efficent this way then stock and she will run with a srx if ya clutch it right!!
