Looking to purchase a 02 viper. Does anyone know off hand the compression of this unit. Is there a limit or range %age wise +/-? Thanks

that number I think your asking for depends on the guage brand and if you have the correct sparkplug thread length adapter. More importantly what your looking for is all of them be within a reasonable range of each other, like all within 5-8%roughly. If I were buying a sled and wanted to check compression I would do all 3, same number of pulls of rope, same everything per cylinder checked and see how close all 3 are together, if close, this means all 3 have good piston/ring seal or decent running shape and or non damaged cylinders likely. One thing to note is a viper has higher compression in the middle and mag cylinder then in the pto , the pto will usually read about 10 or so lbs lower depending on the guage again. Good luck on your new sled.

Thanks Don, The compression with 5 pulls per cylinder was 150 on both mag and center while pto was 130+. Again, thanks for your help.
