What are the benefits of Reed Spacers??? Is there noticeable gains ??? What about gas mileage.

Thanks

Not sure on a 600, on a 700 there are noticeable gains. I peeled the head gaskets, rejetted, bored the silencer, and reclutch my 700 triple - it consistently gets 13.5 mpg. That could be the leaner jetting though. Tis is from the TY tech page for your sled:

99 SX600 Trail
51/43 Helix, 8-ca weights 0.8g in tip, 2-3 engagement shims, stock spring primary, silver secondary, 1 or 2 layers removed from head gasket and 20/40 gearing. Jetting: 140 mains

Do these mods and the reed spacers - you'll like the results.

Here is the silencer mod as well not sure it's worth it on the 600, and being yours is a touring sled you may not like the added volume.
;)!

yamaha kind of goofed by shrouding the reeds. adding a spacer moves them out a little for better airflow.
