My buddy has a 97 SRX mountain, 136 inch track. Is a 159 inch track possible without too much modification. Rail extensions would basically cover it, or am I mistaken, pls.

must be a 98 MTN srx there was no 97 unless its a mtn max going from a 136 to 159 is a huge change. I would be throwing a longer tunnel extension on. with a 136 to 144, the stock tunnel is barely enough to support the 144 track.
Im sure you can find the rail extensions somewhere but may require you go with a longer skid as well

159
Actually your right its a 98, what if her went to a 151 inch, could he still get away with the stock skid ?

it would really be pushing it i think. may have to cut the snow flap in half.
a 144 with a 2.25 track and 8 tooth drivers works great on this sled. The mtn srx is a heavy pig to begin with so i would keep the adding of the track weight and rotating mass to a minimum

Hartman tunnel extensions are cheap. You will need one. I'm a 141 stock to 151 conversion of a mtn Viper and I would not go to 159 without a new tunnel. I'd get a set of used rails 141 or 144 to add short extentions to. Check on the 4 stroke site for 151's off a RX1, I think they will work and should be very cheap (someone out there know if they work for sure?). A 151 set up is still good on the trails, but a big improvement in the powder and hill climbing. You will need some engine mods to turn a 159 properly when hill climbing IMO. Or just start out with a 141 and see if that enough to make you happy. If there is someone out there with the entire set up for sale cheap, speak up.
