I HAVE A 2000 I BOUGHT NEW AND A 2002 I BOUGHT NEW. I NEVER RODE A APPEX, BUT SPENT AFEW HOURS ON A REAL STRONG RX-1. I HATED IT. MY SRX,s ARE LIFERS WITH ME. NO 4 STROKE HERE. 3:16 (tony)
I borrowed from one of my own post's, but this is by far one of my favorite SRX moments, and yes I still own my 00.
2 of my favorite kills from the past:
Both guys on BRAND new 01 Thundercats (you know the type, go to dealer and want the fastest sled made) , me on my little 00SRX.
Lake had maybe 6" of snow, so us trail studded guys could actually have a little fun, these guys where studded as well.
Long story short, I pulled these guys time after time from a stop up and over 100mph. They started actually stalking me to run me, since that little 700 should not beat my all mighty 1000 right?? After running at LEAST 10 times without getting closer than my flap, one of the guys walks over and asked me "how much did that big bore run ya" and admitted he had some clutching done and still could not catch me. He refused to believe that my sled was completey stock with the exception of clutching compliments of a colaborated effort from Mark Giametti (Mega Power) from back in the day.
I still grin thinkin of those 2 guys, they had absolutly NO CLUE that there almighty Thundercats could be beat.

SX - I like the story. Post that on HCS, I'd love to see the responses. Would you have any video of it? What experience do you have agianst the almighty F-7?
LOL Sorry no video, it was like 5 years ago but that would have been priceless.Allvipedup said:SX - I like the story. Post that on HCS, I'd love to see the responses. Would you have any video of it? What experience do you have agianst the almighty F-7?
Unfortunatly I don't have any F-7 experiance with my SRX, I did however run a few with my piped Viper and it usually close trading back and forth, but I am 250lbs and I am sure I had an easy 70lbs on those little cat guy's.

yammiegod, why no love for the 4 stroke? the apex makes teh rx1 feel slow and tankish, and I loved the 05 rx1 I rode. did you ride a mono or noaction equipped sled?

I have two 2000's one is a 1000 and the other stock and will probably never part with them. Once I get the 1000 figured out that will be a memory I want forget.

I just sold my SRX600 to one of my best friends. Hopefully he will keep it in the family. I love that sled. It has never let me down. My memories are mostly of just keeping up with my friends' Polaris 700's all day, and then passing the gas pumps as they fill up.

There are so many fond memory's of racing with my SRX. Two of my favorites go as follows:
When I was about 14, My family and I were riding up near rhinelander wisconsin and I got bored just sitting in the bar. So I just start driving around on my 2000. Before you know it, a guy on a ZRT 800 pulls out of the bar and I ask him if he wants to race. Long story short, we raced up and down this lake about 10-12 times and I beat him everytime. The very last time we raced, I got caught in about a foot of snow for a substantially long time and he finally beat me. I got off my sled to go talk to him, and he ended up flicking me off and went on his very way.
This second memory happened last year. my dad and I headed out to Minoqua in hopes of finding some good races. After waiting while and egging some people on we finally got some bites. Over by the whale (bar), we saw two mach z's drive by and we followed them pass the bridge to race. We raced three times. The first time we raced, it was my SRX 700, my dads rx-1, and the Mach-z (Just one). When we went, I couldn't find good traction and neither could my dad because his track was slipping. The Mach-z lauched with the longer track. We were pretty far back and I couldn't catch him by the end but my dad flew by him at the last 300 feet with the nitrous. I noticed that the Mach-z didn't appear to have any more topspeed then me.
The next time we raced, it was me, a rev 800, and 2 mach z's. Once again I couldn't hook up and the track was very bumpy however I was ahead of the rev 800 the entire race and kept pulling. The one mach-z I was catching at the end of the race but not enough time and the other one I stuck with. I noticed that the longer track was just killing me out of the hole.
On the last raced I asked if we could go from a roll against the two mach Z's. We hit it at about 30 and I was liking my odds. The one mach-Z was behind the entire race and couldn't catch me at all. The other was right next to me the entire race except at the very end where he couldn't keep up with my top end. I was so happy that I could take it on the big end. We ended up talking to them after all the racing and we found out that they were summer draggers so they knew thier stuff. Thier Mach-Z's were running good too. On the last drag when I beat both of them, they came over and asked if I was running a 1000 kit under my hood. I said no, he then asked If I was running a Turbo. All I could do was laugh as I opened my hood and he saw it was just a polished to death stock motor.
Good thread! keep it going!

My best memory on my SRX6?
After riding about 70 miles with the Wife(she tops out at about 50 mph), I was getting a little itchy, We were almost back to the cabin! So I started letting her get aways ahead of me so I could rip through the trails a little and play catch-up. I came up to a hill that I knew pretty well, one that you can float down the back side if you hit it with some speed. So I did, at about 55mph, and guess what was on the other side?
THE TRAIL GROOMER!!!!!
Oh, the good memory, I walked away!(with a limp and a wrecked sled)

ALL GREAT STORIES, AND VIPER DON,T KNOW, JUST HAVE NOT CONECTED TO THESE 4 STROKES. ALTKOUGH I HAVE RODE AFEW TURBO,S AND THATS SICK SPEED. ANYWAYS I CAN,T LIST MY RACE STORIES WITH MY SRX,s BECAUSE I HAVE HUNDREDS. BUT SINSE WE NEED A F-7 STORIE I DO HAVE A SHORT ONE.
'' MYSELF AND SOFA-KING-FAST ON HERE WERE OUT RIDING REAL LATE ONE NIGHT, WE PULLED INTO THIS LOCAL BAR ONE NIGHT ABOUT 1:45. I HAD MY 02 SRX AND HE HAD HIS VIPER. PLACE WAS PRETTY EMTIE, BUT WE DID NOTICE 4 GUYS AT THE END OF THE BAR ALL IN CAT JACKETS. WE GOT DRINKS AND SAT DOWN. WELL ALL OF SUDDAN, I HEAR AS LOUD AS CAN BE SOME BODY SAY '' YEA, MY F-7 AIN,T BEEN BEAT. THERE THE FASTEST 700 cc SLED EVER MADE '' I IGNOREED IT UNTIL I NOTICED HE CUPED IS HANDS TOO THE SIDE OF HIS MOUTH AND YELLED IT AGAIN AT US. I GRABED MY HELMET WALKED OVER TO HIM AND SAID YOU READY, HE SAID LETS GO. WELL WE HAVE A 1 MILE FIELD ABOUT 5 MINUTES FROM THIS BAR. WELL OVER WE WENT. I PULLED MY 02 SRX UP AND THERE IS A BLACK NIGHTFIRE F-7 ALONG SIDE OF ME. SOMEBODY FLAGS US OF AND AWAY WE GO, ABOUT 300 FT WERE SIDE BY SIDE THAN ALL OF A SUDDEN, I WALK AWAY BY TWO TO THREE SLEDS AND TURN IT INTO A LAUGHTER THE FARTHER WE GO. WE GO BACK AND HE SO MADE HE STARTS FIGHTING WITH HIS BUDDIES. I GO OVER TO HIM AND SAY, WELL GUESS YOUR NOT UNDEFEATD ANYMORE !!!! WE ENDED RACING AGAIN, WITH ANOTHER DRIVER ON THE F-7, IT ACTUALLY WAS CLOSER, THEY EVEN HOLESHOT ME BUT I MADE THAT UP AND WWENT RIGHT BY AT THE END. MORAL OF THIS STORIE '' NEXT TIME YOU SHOOT YOUR MOUTH OFF IN A BAR, MAKE SHURE YA KNOW WHO JUST WALKED IN THE DOOR '' 3:16 (tony)

That is a great story Tony.
No, I'll never get rid of my SRX. I actually want more of them. Even with buying a new Apex last winter I found myself riding the SRX the majority of the time. Without suspension mods that wouldn't have been the case (expert x).
My favorite memory happened 2 years ago. My brother in law has always been a cat guy. 2 years ago he bought an 03 ZR 900 because he "was sick of losing to the blue sleds". We raced all that winter and it was VERY close with us trading wins back and fourth untill the local radar runs were held. He beat me all day untill the last run, I got him by a half mile an hour and went home with a higher speed than his big 900. He was pissed. This year he snow checked an F-1000, so I haven't told him about the nitrous on my Apex yet!! Its gonna be another good winter!

One of my favorite memories: Lined up on a lake w/the following, a 600 and 800 both doo HO's, a new Crossfire7, a worked F7, maybe 1 more cat[I'm not sure] and anApex ER. We were flagged and away we went. I had a great hole shot and so did the F7 and 6&800 HO. The F7 pulled on me half way through but at the other end I slowly crept in front of him and was ahead of everyone else. It was The guy on the 800 doo said "those old sleds will really go". I just agreed and and said I'm really happy w/this sled. The Crossfire7 was away from us and they were under the hood checking the belt.Found out later they were just trying it out and didn't end up keeping it. Next few races traded on and off w/ the Apex and F7 but for one race I held them all
