Just purchased an 02 Viper completely stock except for heel clicker clutch kit(that I may take out) and studs.

What can I expect for fuel mileage and oil consumption? Will it sip oil and get 15 mpg like the srx?

Thanks
YS

i got aroung 14mpg and 120 miles to a qt on oil and it was geared down a lot. i could have leaned down the oil, but i like to make sure the crank gets enough!

I am about the same as these guys. gets WAAAAY better mileage (gas and oil) in stock jetting than any of the three 600 tripples we have in the family, also all stock. 2 vmax and an sxr :) what did you ride previous?

03VG, Rode a 99 sx 600 prior to the new Viper. New the 600 would easily get 13 mpg, but after studs, skis, clutching and new track it was lucky to get 10. The sx would use about twice as much oil as a buddies srx(which was very little). On the other hand, his renegade 700 drinks oil like an Oiloholic. In a 250 mile day, he would have to add oil or else run out.

The reason I ask about oil consumption is I sold all my yamalube to the oil gussling friend. He has five cases so he's willing to sell some back. And it would be nice to judge how much oil will be needed over the next two seasons.

Why do you want to take the heelclicker kit off?

That's a good question. My last sled never ran the same after I started to messing with the clutching. And I really don't have/want to spend the time necessary to dial in the clutches. I like to ride fast, but it's not a priority being first to the next corner or beating someone in a drag race.

then my suggestiopn is do the old faithful green secondary and 53/43 helix. you WILL get better mileage from this, along with a snappier sled :) all around great and inexpensive mod!
