I don't know about everyone else but around here Yamaha takes a lot of abuse. When was the last time this happened to Yamaha?

not to sound negative here but didn't srx's have a steering shaft problem where it would break off.

You may want to check all sides....
Have you not been following the huge trouble Yamaha Japan is dealing with at home? Nothing firm yet - but they are under investigation, according to the market.
A recall would be a piece of cake. - compared.

Its all in the fight to be light. But it is scary to see the big four loosing shares from poor winters.Competion amonst them have improved the sleds we ride today.Never had a problem with the srx but snapped some exciter and phasers handlebars before.

i believe the problem with the srx's was the steering column was prone to breaking if i remember correctly.

very prone to breaking, then impossible to reweld.
the spindles on all 97-98 pro actions should have been replaced, the first ones were too thin and would bend or twist, never heard of them breaking off, maybe.

and it was a recall too I remeber. had it done to mine. and damn, cold hands is NOT a safety problem lol! people will never get over that I suppose
Doesn't surprise me on the steering shafts. AC builds some of the worst engineered parts on thier sleds I have ever seen. My old man had a 99 580 pantera, it was junk, engine/suspension was awesome but everything else failed at some point. Starter, mag, chaincase, etc etc. He looked at a new Firecat and the starter is mounted on TOP next to the exhaust attached to a flex cable that went down at a 70 degree angle down to the flywheel. It was the worst design I have seen ever and everything seems like a after thought. He switched to Yamaha Vector and will never look back, although the suspension is not near as nice or as easy to dial in as the cat was.

Yup, ..checkout the video I took last year. We were just buzzing around and then he wasn't behind us so we went back to get him, he said his steering shaft broke. Then after being towed back, he started his sled and gave some throttle and was thrown back and he pulled the handle bars back with him, ....yup, with the handle bars came with the throttle cable, ....Z-O-O-M....and wrapped it around a tree.

Cheers.

that does suck. I thought that the shafts couldnt take having risers installed, but left stock would do ok, no?
