Hey guys, i have a 1999 Srx and when i bought it 2 years ago, it had a idle surge when you first start it, when it is warmed up it is not there. This is what it sounded like when i first bought it. At about 10 seconds into the clip you will hear it and hear it a second time near the end.
Now the surge is starting to get worse somtimes now when you start it, it will idle high enough for the clutch to engage.
Any thoughts guys?
Thanks

clean the pilots for sure and well might as well clean the entire carbs. clogged pilots will make it idle higher than normal
That idle surge is normal. Its a tripple!! tripples do that Mine does the same thing +- 100 RPM or so

Idle Surge
Thanks for the reply TomSeal6, the surge you heard at about 10 seconds in, is a surge of about 400 to 500rpms (That doesn't bother me because it has been doing this since i bought it at 2400 miles) and at least 2 or 3 times now it has surged up to around 3500 to 3800rpms and has engaged the clutch, and its just when the sled is warrmng up after it is warm it does the normal +-100rpms

Like Tomseal said, clean your pilots real well. Also check your fuel screws on the bottom and make sure they are in spec (1 1/8 of a turn for the 99 srx 7). I've seen alot of these be way off for some reason or another. You could probably bump it up to 1 1/4 if the problem still persists.

That is normal for a sled when it is cold. Flip the choke a few times until it warms up. The motor is cold and it is lean which causes it to rev.

i agree with danger where is your choke position when this is happening. you want to get to no choke a fast as possible and then keep blipping it to half choke to keep it running.

as Danger said it is completely normal. Every srx i have had and worked on has done this when cold.
