hello again,
I was told the sled I got was stock no carb tuning but here is what I found..
I am tring to get my sled carb figured out. here is where my carbs are at
mains 141.3 143.8 143.8
pilot 45
needles 6dgm5 6dgm5 6dgm5
clip 2
air 1 1/2

I was reading the specs ( factory setting) and this is what i found out.????
mains 145 143.8 143.8
pilot 45
needles q8 q4 q4
clip 3
air 1 1/2

my question is why do I have the same needles and what does 6DGM5 stand for and WHY ARE THEY ALL THE SAME?????
also why is this setup this way???
anybody help me out so I can get this machine back together tonight....
thanks again joe

if you go under the tech page it show's you exactly all the specs on your sled go under stock specifications

Yes that is where I got these numbers at that I posted.
The problem is they do not show this number 6DGM5 for the needle
thanks for the post and info though.

The mains should be #1 #2 #3
145 143.8 143.8 Stock
The Jet needles are and should be all the same.

The 6DGM05-3 is the size(dia) of the needle and the taper lengths at different distances on the needle itself- Hence they should all have the same needle...
Now the needle Jet (nozzles) are different #1 #2 #3
Q-8 Q-4 Q-4 Stock
The needle jet(Q-8, Q-4) is what the jet needle(6DGM05) rides in and has different diameters on the inside to regulate how much fuel passes the needle at different throttle positions.

P.S. Your jetting is staggered for the reason of one cylinder runs cooler than the other 2 so yamaha allowed the jetting to be leaner in the one cylinder to prevent plug fouling.

I ran the same main's for years. 143.8 141.3 141.3. Maybe it is a mistake but why would the mag side be a 141.3 and the other 2 143.8? that is completely backwards as the 143.8 is a fatter jet than 141.3 and the mag side requires the 1 fatter jet as it is the "hot" or lean side.

on sx engines with a single pipe and SOME triple pipes the pto is the hot cylinder and is the one that gets the one size bigger main.

That is correct. Sorry but I am confusing myself here

Duh, You are correct! I had my facts backwards. I don't know what I was thinking, musta been tired. T

alright then that clarifies my confusion. But yes I ran those mains in my 700sx and 700sxr, never had an issue and they both have over 8000mi now. I am not sure on your needle issue
