I have a 03 viper and like the ride, no complaints. I'am tall and the extra height on the seat would fit better? I thought about doing this to my sled to make into a Boss like flat-top.
Click the link below and tell me what you think, have you done this, what you would have done, DID IT RIP after a year? Seems like a simple idea. Thanks for your feed back.

That's cool, should take the pressure off the knees. I did something like that...I will post some pics..
I have no pic's of the process, only of the finish outcome and I'm happy with it...pic's to come soon...
keep in mind that you have to taper the foam as you go up and as you go forward as not to have your legs spread to wide and pull out on your hips. Here ya go; A friend of mine does boat interiors and he added ( marine type adhesive ) 2 3/4" hi-dense. low temp foam, he then shaped it so that it is tapered as you go up and to the front. He thought that he might have to add more black fabric to the bottom but was able to heat and stretch it out. All said and done it pulled nicely on the foam and I gained about a true two inch rise, next time I'll go over three, but may then need to add more black at the bottom...take a look at the pics...let me know what you think...Mike

Not sure if your aware or not thats an 03 RX1 seat. I did that mod to my seat and it worked great. Had the stock seat skin streched back over and it's still perfect. This past week I bought an 06 Apex seat that I hear is awsome. Time will tell.
theblues: If you can post some pictures that would be great. Is your sled a viper too. I saw the rx1 seat post and thought that mod would be possible for the viper seat. My question is if he sat on the seat upside down to streatch it I wonder if it ripped durring the season?

I think I may give this a try... we should easily be able to get a couple more inches out of the viper seat.

Picture added.
Thanks for the picture. Did you spray glue the new foam to the old foam? It looks like the seat is on a angle now? Do you slid down?

The seat is actually flat when it is off the sled, however when using the stock strap, it pulls the front down. I believe if the factory elastic strap is lenghtened it would sit flat. Its on my list of things to do. As for the extra foam, yes it was spray glued on the original foam.
Looks great, would love to see pics of it on the sled when you get a chance!theblues said:That's cool, should take the pressure off the knees. I did something like that...I will post some pics..
