I am looking to add another srx to the fleet. It will mostley be a trail and laker. I have two sleds that I am trying to decide over. On is a clean 98 woth a Bender 835 kit, pipes, and a electronic temp gauge set up. Its got a new track, ohlins, and is super clean. The other is a bone stock 2000 that is also real clean. Both are in the low 3000 mile range. the 00 is 2500.00 and the 98 is 3000.00.

98 BB, do comp test and if he will let you pull the pipes and look at the piston skirts for scoring etc.

I'd go with the '98 BB.

I voted 98. If it was only a big bore I would've voted 2000, but with the bender pipes and track I would say that 98 is a better deal.

pro116 makes a good point. With MrViper's porting and some other small mods the 2000 will make some pretty good HP. How much HP does the 835 kit make on the '98??

The Bender 835 with big bore pipes makes 175 hp on pump fuel, with stock pipes around 165. The Bender cylinders are CNC ported with the 835. With exhaust temp gauges, new track, and ohlin's....I'd say the 98 would be the best deal IMO, but i'm just a troll, so don't listen too me!
Find out if has the big bore pipes, they are worth some cash!!!
Do a compression check before you buy!!!!!!!!!

I added to the 98 for two reasons, #1, you don't have a 98 in your fleet and #2, it seems as though it would be the laker you're looking for.

i voted for the 2000.even thoguh it's not a steal on the sled but a nicer sled in genral.buy a big bore for the 2000 & have the added features of the 2000 as well.

You'd have over 5grand in the 2000 if you wanted all the big bore stuff the 98 had. Do a compression check on the 98 and let that decide it.

The money invested in the 98 BB is a better deal pending condition IMO, even if you have to replace the rings.

I do know the 98 pretty well. The sled was built by Justin at Bender Racing. It has been maintained by another freind of mine. The sled miles are around 4500 and the BB has just a tick over 3500 miles. It has the Four window guage and the crank has been trued, welded, and balanced. He is running the stock carbs but is throwing in the larger bore carbs as well. It also comes with two complete sets of gaskets and two brand new pistons. However I also just tripped across a super charger for the warrior on the 4stroke side that sounds pretty tempting.
