I have owned my 2001 srx for over 4 years now. This sled has been very good to me. I am now thinking of buying an 03 viper to help with the beat up trails. Does the viper handle as good as my srx. If not, can something be done to it to make handle close to it. Or am I going to be kicking myself in two months for buying a sled that doesn't keep up with my srx?

can pipe a viper and make it reliable. lots of mods for viper than will out run even a stock SRX and be good on the bumps
but dont sell the SRX you will miss it and it will be worth a fortune someday

I think you're best option is to get the shocks long traveled in the SRX, you would miss the engine if you went with the viper. I have both the viper and srx and did the long travel in the SRX and love it.

I had two srx's.A 2001 and a 2002 srx,i sold them and bought a 2004 viper s.The ride on the viper is awsome compared to the srx but i was disappointed in the lack of power with the viper. My buddy had a pioneer long travel kit on his srx and although it was a lot better then stock it still wasnt as good as my viper was. With all that said if i could have any of my past sleds back,it would be my 02 srx.

Had a 2000 SRX with stock suspension. Ran fast, rode hard. Long traveled the rear with Viper updated "soft shocks and springs" package. Added shock extensions to the front KYB shocks. Improved the ride a little. I now have a 2002 Viper with the upgraded "soft shock and spring package". Totally better ride than the SRX. I can ride it all day and still get off the seat without help. It is not as fast as the SRX, but real close. I do miss the sweet sound of those triple pipes but would not trade my Viper for best of both worlds, performance and RIDE.

My opinion,
I have two srx's, bth with viper shock. the 2000 have non revalved 02 viper shocks and the 2001 srx has revalve viper shocks..... personaly I like the non revalve but I ride fast so the spring and shock combination is awsome at high speed. You can add te viper shocks then relocate you from shock mounts. some guy on ebay sells them or hauck might have them.....
Keep the srx and
Rock ON!

What do you guys mean you put viper shocks in your SRX and the Viper still rode better??? With Viper shocks, limiter straps, and transfer rods THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME SKID. The only difference will then be the front shocks.

I must add I did the viper suspension in my srx and for the time i put into doing it theres not a lot of difference in ride, it is a bit better but not for the time of got into it. I also put viper shocks on the front and now its a lot tippier. So im thinking of widening the front.
