how mutch i should shaved heads on a srx1998 700 to be safe on trailride and should a change the squish band or angle ????

You can either shave off .010 or shave off .030 and add another gasket. Don't run anything less than 91 octane though.

If you are interested, I have heads off of a 99 that are shaved .030 along with the .030 base gasket. This is good for 3-5HP. I am putting mine back to stock before having it ported, so I would be willing to work something out for ya since I am looking for stock ones.

You want to shave the heads 10 thou more then you add in base gasket thickness. If you add 2 base gaskets(10 thou X 2 = 20 thou) you want to cut 30 thou off the heads.

Just to clarify.. On mine I removed the stock gasket and replaced with a .030 gasket. Stock is .010, so inactuality I added .020. I then had heads cut .030. IT works well.
